What to Do When on the Beach . . .

If  you take the kids for a picnic on the beach,

and they’re playing in the surf,

and it is a pebble beach,

 you tell them to go look for stones with holes in them

and there are plenty of stones with holes, since all the pebbles are of limestone ,  a sedimentary rock composed of the remains of marine organisms and which is very soluble. So plenty of holes.

You should keep the Heart-shaped stones as well (for romantic purposes),

Sometimes you find a really good one, with a double hole!

Then you get scissors and some rope,

and you find  a good tree

and then you string all the stones up into the tree

So that  you’ve got a cool-looking art project;

a decorated beach tree,

while the rest of the picnickers are wondering what the hell you are doing,

and future visitors will be puzzled as to why this tree is so richly decorated.

So if anyone out there finds a lovely decorated tree one of these days, while on the seaside, please, be so kind, and add some of your art to it. I think we should make this a trend; beach tree decorating.

great post , I look forward to reading your posts on Monday. It helps that I'm originally lebanese and appreciate your stories. Actually your stories remind me that I should explore my home country next time I visit.
