This post has nothing to do whatsoever with Lebanon. It is about the wonder of technology. I am ‘skyping’ from Beirut with one of my brothers in Holland. Here are some screen shots.
When I was young, we used to watch these black and white Startreks movies, and they'd be able to see each other on video phone. Not so 'science-fiction' after all.
"Beam me up, Scottie!"

Well, you need to be fair and tell the world that this was a one-way transmission. Thanks to your third world internet connection we couldn't hear a word of what you were saying. We couldn't even hear Adriaan and that was an unusual experience (see him don't hear him). So ok, no 'beam me up Scotty stuff' for you guys, you are all very disconnected from the world and if I read your blog well, you will all go back to the Stone Age any day now. Buckle up baby! Y.
An it would be good if we could really beam you out of there, when the need arises... Y.
Sietske, I speak regularly with friends in Beirut (and all over the world) on SKYPE. What you did not tell your brother is that Broadband (ADSL) is available in Beirut but that you would rather spend $25 on a day skiing in the sun looking over the Mediterranean at Fareya!
Yes but this way we'll never beam her up... :(
